A Moral Dilemma
2005
More Information
"A Moral Dilemma" is an enigmatic animation which utilizes vocal excerpts from the noted Dadaist Kurt Schwitter's sound poem 'Ursonate.'
I felt the absurdly emotional dialog deserved equally absurd visual counterparts.
Most of this work is inspired by items from my eclectic collection of objects made in a time where aesthetics was as important as function. This Toast Master toaster was ubiquitous during the 1950’s and 60’s and I still find it beautiful. Even the brass nozzle was a common object that had a weight and patina lost to today’s plastic and planned obsolescence.
I received a scathing comment from a confused viewer and knew Schwitter would be pleased.
